When you open up a PayPal account, you can start sending money right away, but to receive payment, you need to link your PayPal account to your bank account.

How To Open And Verify PayPal Account For Bloggers In The US

So, without further ado let’s dive right in to the topic,
1). Go to the PayPal Homepage and Click on the Sign Up button.

2). You will have to select an account type before you proceed further.
For freelancer or a blogger, Business Account is the right option.
So, Click on Business Account and then Click on Next.

3). On the next screen, you will be asked to fill in your Email ID. After you fill in your Email ID, Click on Continue.

4). On the next screen Enter Your Password & click On Continue.

5). On the next screen, you will be asked to fill in all the information about your business account
- Contact Information
- Business Details
- Phone Number
- Address
Fill in all the relevant information.
Select the CheckBox & agree to their Terms & Conditions.
Then Click on Agree And Create Account.

6). On the next screen you will be asked to describe your business.
Select your Business Type from the options given below,
- Individual/Sole Proprietorship
- Partnership
- Corporation
- Nonprofit Organization
The Business Type that we have to Select as bloggers is Individual/Sole Proprietor.

7). After you select the Business Type, you will be prompted to fill in more information.
Since you are opening your PayPal account as a blogger you can select the following,
- Product Or Service Keywords – Business Services.
- What Are Your Monthly Sales – Select a relevant option from the dropdown list.
- Website (Optional) – This is optional, if you want you can enter your Website URL.
You will also be offered a PayPal Business Debit Mastercard.
It definitely has it’s benefits so, if you want it, just Select the CheckBox.
Click on Continue.

8). On the next screen you be asked more information about yourself such as,
- Social Security Number (Last 4 Digits)
- Date Of Birth
- Home Address
Fill in all the relevant information & Click On Submit.

9). On the next screen you will be asked what services you are offering to the public. You will have 4 options to choose from,
- Goods
- Services
- You are not selling yet
- Others
Since you are applying as a Blogger, you can select Services, but it’s okay even if you don’t select any option.
Simply Click on Next.

10). On the next screen you will be redirected to PayPal Dashboard.

11). You will receive an email from PayPal on the Email ID that you provided while opening the account.
Use the email to confirm your account. Click on the Confirm Your Email button in that email.

12). You will be redirected to a screen where you will be asked to fill in your password to confirm you Email ID.
Fill in the password & click on Confirm My Email button.

13). There is one more step remaining before you can start using your PayPal account in a full fledge manner. Click on the Add Your Bank Account section.

14). On the next screen you will see the list of all the banks that are associated with PayPal.
You can either search for your bank from the Search Box or direct Select your bank out of the list, by Clicking on it.

15). You will be redirected to a screen where you will get to choose from two options.
You can either connect your bank account to PayPal manually or automatically.
Connecting your bank account manually takes 2-3 business days to complete where PayPal sends you 2 small deposits in to your bank account & you have to give those deposits back to PayPal.
All these steps are a bit tedious & can take time to complete.
On the other hand, connecting your bank account automatically is a lot easier & takes no time.
We will be using the automatic option to connect.
After you have selected the Automatic option for linking to you bank, you will be redirected to a screen where you just have to login with your bank credentials & your bank will be linked with PayPal automatically in a matter of seconds.
Fill in your username & password for the bank & click on Agree and Link.

16). On the next page you will be asked to “Confirm Your Identity”.
You can select to receive the code on your registered mobile number via a text message or a voice call.
Once you have selected, click on Confirm Your Identity button.

17). You will get a code on your registered mobile number. Use the code to confirm your account on the next screen.

18). You will be redirected to a screen where you will get a confirmation of your account being linked.

You are all set now to send & receive payments via PayPal.
PS – PayPal may ask you to provide more details in the future as well, to reconfirm your identity.
