Blogs have become an essential part of many people’s life today. If you check the internet, you will realize that it’s pouring blogs. The current generation has become more tech savvy than the last one & this will continue with the next generation as well.
Whether one wants to share their personal experience about a certain topic or learn something new, there are many blogs available today which helps in achieving this objective.
Below are the 12 reasons why people start blogging. I am pretty sure that you will find a reason that matches your thoughts.
Interest In Writing
This is one of the most common reason people decide to blog. Many people simply like to write. First it used to be pen & paper but now its blogs. Sometimes people just feel good to write. Writing down one’s thoughts gives a different perspective towards life. For some its like a meditation & for some its like a therapy. Some people write to enhance their writing skills whereas some people write for fun.
The days of writing in a traditional way with pen & paper are long gone now. Blogging has become the new tradition.
Now-a-days everything is online. Whether its How-To articles or Cooking Tutorials everything can be done via blogging. Blogging actually started in this manner. When internet boom took place suddenly digital space was available for everyone & traditional way of writing gave way to the modern way in form of blogs.
Doesn’t matter which niche your write in, but if you are someone who likes to write then you should definitely think of starting a blogging.
Sharing Knowledge
This is another common reason for blogging. Some people start a blog to share their knowledge. Today, the population of the world is over 6 billion & each person has knowledge based on his or her experience in life.
Many people think that money is power. That may be true to a certain extent, but the real power is knowledge. Without knowledge one cannot succeed in life. If someone has a lot of money but that person doesn’t have the knowledge to safeguard it, then he might end up losing that fortune. That’s why knowledge is so important.
As mentioned above, each & every person has knowledge depending upon their experience in life.
Now, if they share that knowledge with us then we might be able to avoid some mistake they did.
And vice versa is also true, if I had some issue in the past & I solved it, then I gained some knowledge in doing so. There are many people who might be facing the same issue. If I share my knowledge with them then it will not just help them in solving their problem, but they might be find out a better solution.
Connect With Like Minded People
People always want to be with like minded people as they think in the same manner & their thoughts are like a fodder for each other. When internet wasn’t around, people still used to connect with like minded people, but the scope was kind of limited.
Now with internet in almost every household, this gap has decreased drastically. One can now find like minded people with just a click of a button.
Say for example, if someone is interested in physics and that person can start a blog then he or she can connect with like minded people through that blog. In this way all the like minded people who are in touch with each other can share their knowledge & get a different perspective as well as a better understanding of the topic which they like i.e. physics.

I will give you an example. My sister is really creative & talented in yoga. She had done many courses & had quite a bit of experience. She also took classes, but still her reach was limited. So she took my suggestion & started a blog and in no time people started reading about her & started calling her for yoga sessions.
Now she is earning 10 times more than what she used to earn before & moreover her talent & creativity is getting the right platform. This is the power of creating a blog relevant to your creativity & talent.
Fame & Popularity
Some people just want to become famous. They want more & more people to know about them & appreciate them.
When people see other successful people, they try to follow their path & there is nothing wrong in that. Its basic human nature.
For example, when I was growing up, I was really inspired by Sachin Tendulkar. Whenever India used to play and Sachin used to bat, I would just sit and watch him with a bat in my hands. I always wanted to be famous & popular like him & believe it or not I was actually good at cricket. Well things didn’t turn out the way I had expected, but the point here is that people get inspired by other people when they see how famous & popular some people have become.
Same thing goes for blogging as well. If you have an expertise in a particular niche & you are interested in blogging then there are many famous & popular bloggers out there, whom you can get inspired from.
Networking
Blogging is an awesome way of meeting new people throughout the world & increase your social network. If you are a person who is very interested in social networking then blogging can really help you in that.
You can find new people sharing your perspective & having different ideas through blogging. You will definitely get some enthusiasm out of it.

At least, I don’t know a single person who does not want to earn money. Many people have this misconception that blogging doesn’t earn you money. To this, I can only say one thing & that is, they are wrong.
There is a lot of money in blogging. In fact you will be surprised to know that blogging can pay you much more than your typical 9-5 job.
There are plenty of examples of various bloggers, who are earning up to $30,000 per month & they have made blogging their full time career.
Having said that, one should not start a blog just to earn money. A person should start a blog only if he or she is interested in blogging. Money is the bi-product of blogging.
Create A Permanent Record
People blog to create a permanent digital record of what they are doing or have done in the past.

Let me explain. I used to go a a java class & the sir used to teach really nice. I also had the notes that I had written in the class, but now the notes have become old & the pages are in a bad shape. So, I created a digital copy of my java notes in form of a blog, so that I can refer back to those notes whenever I feel the need for a quick revision.
Blogging not only keeps a permanent record of all the notes that you want to archive, but it also keeps your memory fresh by allowing you to refer back to those notes on demand through a mobile or computer.
Helping Others
You can help others by sharing your knowledge with them through a blog, like I am doing in my blog. I write about Affiliate Marketing, Hosting, SEO, WordPress & Blogging Tips. These topics are a necessity to each & every blogger irrespective of their niche.
By conveying solutions to hurdles in these 5 topics, I am doing my part as a blogger in helping my fellow bloggers.
Staying In Touch
This aspect is not that much prevalent but still important. People who are staying away from their friends & family can stay in regular touch with them through blogging.
Your friends with whom you have lost touch can still connect with you through your blog. Staying in touch with family & friends is an awesome feeling.
